Finding Inspiration in Finding Nemo

I received an email yesterday which stated the following;
"The "roller skating concept" is indeed what they are doing. Puppets are being used from a Japanese art style" He goes onto state that "Disney did a MERMAID show in Tokyo at their theme park and used that style of puppets for their production of FINDING NEMO at Disney World in FL. It will be unlike the LION KING puppets and more of its own style"
The FINDING NEMO musical incorporates many different styles of puppetry such as rod, Bunraku and shadow. Below are some pictures from the show including close-ups on the puppets.

Finding Nemo is NOT a UV Black Light Puppet show (though voyage of the Little Mermaid at Disney MGM Studios is). The pictures you posted speak for themselves.

Anyone remember TLM on ice?
It sounds like it may be the same...

I haven't seen the Finding Nemo Show - I just figured the pictures where promotional, rather than the actual show.

Here is a collaborative pic from two designers. Typsin has portfolio online. Expect stuff like this.

Also I saw sketches of Sebastian and Flounder. Only the head of the actor is visible. They will wear a mask/helmet that will also be the body of the character. The arms (fins) will be controlled by two rods connected to gloved hands. The rest of the actor is mask in a camouflage outfit. The rest of the animal characters are this way and it really adds a dimension to puppets we have seen by Disney before. What is great is that since the character is constantly swimming, they do not need a platform to hide under.

The set is incredible.
